llms.txt is a proposed standard (llmstxt.org): a markdown file with an H1 site name, a blockquote summary, optional details, then ## sections of [linked](url) items. It gives large-language-model crawlers a curated map of your most important pages.
Upload it to your site root so it is reachable at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt, alongside robots.txt and sitemap.xml. The generator’s download gives you a ready llms.txt file.
Not directly — Google does not use llms.txt. It helps AI answer engines understand and cite your content, a growing source of traffic under generative engine optimisation (GEO).
The spec lets you mark a section as “## Optional” so parsers can skip it when building a compact context. Use it for secondary links you would like available but not front-of-house.
